PTE Academic is the English test you can use to prove your English capability as part of all Australian visa applications. This PTE test is readily available in Sydney and other Australian cities also and is accepted by all Australian universities, as well as by expert associations and state government departments.
PTE is a computer-based English language test that non-native English speakers need to pass if they want to study or live permanently in Australia. It evaluates Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. PTE questions frequently check 2 skills, such as listening and checking out, or reading and speaking together. The whole test is performed in a single 3-hour session at an official centre.I wish to share my experience about taking multiple IELTS examinations attempting to get that damn 7.0 in every band, then finally deciding to try my luck (ahem, my english skills) at a various test. Ideally I will handle to persuade others to take the PTE-Academic instead of the IELTS. For those that do not know what any of these exams are, they are standardised english tests that determine your capability to speak english. These examinations are usually required by universities or federal governments for visa applications if you originate from a non-english speaking background. There are several exams and they all have a different format, however I will just discuss the PTE and the IELTS. The results from these exams are valid for 2 or 3 years, therefore, as an immigrant you may need to take them more than when depending on your visa situation. As one of my friends states, it is as if you all of a sudden forget how to speak english, and you go, SORRY!, my results expired I do not know how to ENGLISH anymore!, byeee!
IETLS Vs PTE
In other words, the primary difference between IELTS and PTE is that IELTS is a paper based exam, where you read and write your responses in paper, and the PTE is all computer system based. When it comes to IELTS the speaking part takes the form of an interview, and in the PTE you merely speak with the computer. ITELS has a maximum score of 9.0 and PTE has an optimal rating of 90. I find the PTE Academic as a more difficult test than the IELTS, because of the intricate content and vocabulary used in the questions, as the listening and reading passages can be based upon scholastic readings, making it challenging for someone that does not have a great grasp of the language. Also, the speaking part contains a charts and charts area where you have 25 seconds to study the image and 40 seconds to discuss it, I found that quite intimidating at the beginning, but I got utilized to it with practice.
My background
I am from Venezuela and my mother tongue is Spanish. I started learning english when I was 12 or 13, and when I was 15 I had an actually excellent deal with on the language and was pretty proficient already. In 2007 I took the TOEFL considering that it was needed by universities in Australia, and I did quite well, a minimum of sufficient to enter into university. So in 2008, at 18 I moved to Australia. Then in 2013 I took the IELTS due to the fact that I was PTE Coaching in Auckland preparing to extend my visa, but after doing a whole university course, I was positive in my ability to speak english and I only examined the examination format the day previously. Again, I had no concern in acquiring the result I required, getting 7.0 or above in every band.
In January 2016 my previous outcomes were no longer valid, so I needed to take the IELTS once again, to be able to acquire enough points for an irreversible residency visa application. This is where things got challenging. This time I was also positive that I would succeed in the exam, so I studied the format of the examination and practiced questions for about 2 days. 2 weeks later I get the results and was surprised that I had obtained a 6.5 in my composing band. This was bad, however not terrible given that I had an 8.5 in the remainder of the bands, and an average of 8.0. From the outcomes, I just thought I did not have adequate words on my essay for the composing section.
Throughout this time I was extremely busy in between work and making a video modifying application as a side project. This app was taking most of my time beyond work, I was not seeing buddies or doing anything outside of work. I still managed to get to the health club, but I was hooked on getting the app finished. I chose to take the IELTS again as soon as possible, so that I might return to work in the app. Yet once again, another failure in my ability to speak english, this was pretty disastrous and difficult. Knowing that my remain in this country depended upon an english examination that I had passed in the past but for some reason I had to take once again, yes, that had a negative result on me.
